I don't know about you, but this is something I think about ALL the time about friends, family members, and other local businesses.
It seems when they get their own business started, they tell us to spread the word, recommend them to friends, hand out their business cards, share their page on facebook, try their awesome new products or services, etc. Being the person I am, and always have been, of course I do. Local business is awesome, and you're helping within your community when you do. It's just something I would do whether they asked me to or not.....But it seems when you ask them to try your product samples, like your page, or anything like that, a lot of the time you get the cold shoulder.
"No, that's not my thing." Well... neither was wedding dresses when my best friend had a Bridal Shop but I still shared and spread the word.
One of my friends selling their house? Of course I'll share it and hope someone likes it and buys it. Bubble bath and soap? Of course I need more...
I've never quite understood that, and am forever trying to figure it out.... I do know that I love marketing, love making money, and love cheering people on to do the same, and I don't expect everyone to be like me, but I do keep my fingers crossed they'd at least support in one way or another, and by support I don't mean financially. I mean... hey, if you want to...? great!
So, if you're reading this and you have someone in your life that needs a little enlightenment on helping out their friend, comment, like, share, or follow.;)
This blog is kind of short, but it's been on my mind lately. If you have any thoughts as to why MLM business' gets treated differently than traditional business ownership. I'd love to hear from you so be sure to leave it in the comments, I'd love to hear from you!!

Creating your WHY to Become A Successful MLM Entrapraneur
So, your first step to becoming a successful Entrepreneur in your MLM business should have been researching the company, products, demand, compensation and the amount of people who may already be selling the product(s). Next you are going to want to start your WHY. Don't pass this over, this is a crucial part of becoming an entrepreneur and not just "another distributor" The money you make from selling your product really is just that, a little bit extra. Your real success is in your first 100 days from signing your business, beginning with your WHY.
When I first began in "direct sales" (note I did not say entrepreneur), my lack of success and rising to the top had nothing t
o do with a lack of knowledge. I read, Googled, researched, asked questions, studied, read manuals, and watched more instructional videos than I can count. I had knowledge. I understood my products, I had basic understanding of what a "Distributor" was.
I successfully built a social media following (mainly Facebook, I didn't get into twitter, instagram, linked in, google + or anything else besides Facebook.)
What I was missing was a really good “why.” I had thought long and hard about what my goals were, but did I ever attain them? No. My first DS company was a total flop, my second DS company was okay I suppose, I may have spent more in product than I actually made but hey, live, learn and I like to shop! ;)
My first goal was to make $5,000 a month. That was a decent goal for me. My original WHY was because I wanted to have my own money, not my husbands but my own. I had been independent and lived on my own previous to meeting him and having our boys. I was used to doing things MY way so it was difficult for me to not have that independence anymore. I wanted to make that Incentive Trip and take others, not having to hold our wallets tight and keep enjoying the things we were accustomed to.
All the books and information about creating your WHY told me to write it down, I wrote down my goal of $5,000.00 per month and why I wanted to achieve it. I felt that $5,000.00 a month was enough to pay my bills, set aside funds for the family to travel and do other thing's that we'd normally say "Well, let's see how much is after bills." and of course have my spending money for clothes and all thing's girls like to spend money on. That adds up quick I must add!
Pretty good reasons, right? I truly believed in this goal and my reasons for achieving it. But it was not enough. I needed something more to push me forward, and motivate myself to take action every day. Nobody told me that becoming a successful MLM Entrepreneur (Not Distributor) was a lot of work! Nobody told me that every successful person in the business wouldn't just give up the reasons they were so successful, how they built their teams so quickly, how they made it to the top and truly spread out all over the Globe (If your MLM company is global like my current one). Hard work, but extremely rewarding.
I had to really dig beneath my WHY and ask myself WHY it was important for me to pay my bills, WHY it was important for me to take my family on vacations and keep up our active lifestyle of traveling via our camper, WHY it would be nice to get rid of my truck and drive a brand new SUV again, WHY it was important to put some money away for house renos or in case of emergency, and last but not least WHY it was important to me to truly succeed and help others do the same.
Some of the reasons that dug deeper to my WHYS were that I didn't really get to travel when I was a child. The farthest I had been was within my province of British Columbia, and Alberta which is one province over until I was 21 years old! Wow. I wanted my children to have memories and learn how truly lucky they are for them.
So I asked myself WHY it's important for me to do the above. Instead of thinking "I need to get up, get out of bed because I want to make $5,000.00 per month to start, to pay my bills, travel, shop & Save. I started thinking to myself the bigger picture. Time is ticking... I'm 30 years old and although I love my children to the moon and back, they are my only success in life right now. I'm giving myself a 5 year plan which exceeds the $5,000.00 per month and I am going to pound the pavement, bettering my knowledge, bettering my skills, "working my business" because I want to not only succeed but EXCEL in my business. I don't just want to have a limit of only selling some products which is what a distributor does, but I want to create an empire. In order to do this, I have to truly think about why I want these things in life. Every. Single. Day.
So, if you've begun your journey as one of my distributors, or you are in a different company, this is the single most important step to starting on your path of MLM Entrepreneurship.
I have now grown a team that has tripled what has taken me over a year to accomplish in my previous "Direct Sales" business.

So, this is a blog...?
So this is blog? I've never been more terrified or excited in all of my MLM experience. I must say, I think this is going to be an exciting journey. Writing my thoughts on politics, world news, daily adventures of Mommyhood working from home. Love it!
I just thought about it, and I have been in 4 MLM and DS companies. Wow right?
The first one, I ended up getting a lot of stock but never did anything with it because of my wonderful social anxiety. Why I didn't think of this before signing up, was beyond me!
The second, I ran an OK business for about a year and a half. I was not an entrepreneur by any means. I was a distributor. Plain and simple. I was selling product and not expanding my skills. I didn't even know what Multi Level Marketing was at that point. I'm still learning, believe me, I think it's a constant learning process and I actually love learning the ins and outs. Back then, I thought it was all about telling my friends, and hoping they would book parties, and some of their friends would book parties and so on. Of course this worked for a while, but that dwindled and my friends got sick of me constantly updating them on the newest products. I didn't know just how far it goes beyond your "facebook friends circle".
In my journey, I've been told I'd never get anywhere, I've been told things are "Pyramid Schemes", basically a lot of negativity. A lot from one person in my family, but that doesn't get me down about what I do, it just makes me lose respect for that/those people and drives me to work harder, do better and expand to the best things I possibly can.
I wasn't born a leader, in fact I always grew up a follower. Being the youngest in the family, I followed my older siblings, did what they did, bought what they bought and basically believed everything they told me for a great part of my life. lol Same as school, I always bought the same clothes my friends bought because I really had no sense of style so I trusted their opinion more than mine, I'd never make a decision about where I wanted to go on dates or what we should do. I was such a door mat, especially seeing myself actually type these things out.
Well, that person I am no longer. I'm not sure exactly what point my life changed, but as I got older I learned that the people I grew up thinking "they HAVE to know what they're talking about" really don't always know the answer and they aren't always right.
Somewhere along the way I found myself, what I'll tolerate as not only an adult but as a human being, my self worth and so much more. I've also found that people actually do care what I have to say sometimes, people actually do like me... most of the time, I am funny and that people do like to be in my presence. lol
With that knowledge and power of taking back (or finding out who I truly am and what that means), I have discovered I love I love leading and helping others (people and animals) the best I can, I love giving advice, and it just so happens on a whole other side of the scale, I love sales. I've wanted to be a real estate agent since I knew what jobs were about. I could probably tell you what a house was worth within 5,000.00 in the last City I lived in (Lived there from 1997 to December of 2014). Love characteristics of homes, looking at lay outs, finishes, property, locations. Love love love! Okay... so you get the point.
Anyways, life happens and I bought a house when I was very young and was always working and never really got around to it because I thought only making commissions wasn't a wise choice without a back up plan.... almost 10 years down the road and I now have two amazing little boys who are 4.5 and almost 2, and I don't want to get my real estate licence becasue I want to be there for their hockey games, t ball games, camping on the weekends, and home at night. So, at this point it's just not something that would work for me.
So... here I am. Working from home, changing diapers, cleaning up messes, driving to pre school, caring for our two dogs, bird, hubby and our boys... the list goes on and on, and if you're a Mom, you'll totally know what I'm talking about. I've actually prepared a couple snacks and stuck my thumb in a poop filled diaper checking to see if he pooped. Yup. Turns out he did!
So, there you have it. Mom, caretaker, working from home and loving it. It's a journey. A true journey learning about Multi Level Marketing. And I'm finding out not everyone wants to give their tricks to you as I had so anxiously been waiting for. Nope... I'm all on my own.
I've got a few tricks up my sleeve that have been proving to work just by countless reading and learning and expanding my knowledge and that's what makes this so exciting!
I hope you enjoyed my story and it came out as smooth as it did in my head.... Stay tuned for more marketing tips, funnies and whatever strikes me to talk about!
